X41 turtle beach headset(360).. 200 bucks for headphones?!?
Well..I'm looking to dig this old thread backup because I'm debating buying a pair of really nice headphones. I'm going to read back through this thread, and see what all was said, but first, here are some things I'm looking for and a few general questions: (no doubt, some of this ground might have been covered in this thread already, and rest assured that I will go back and read through it.)
1. I have a big head, so a huge pair of headphones made for people with giant heads would be nice. I tried on a pair of Turtle Beach headphones at gamestop the other day, and they seemed to fit reasonably well.
2. I want surround sound, and I want them to be wireless.
3. I play mostly on Xbox 360, and a little on PC and PS3. I'd like a headset that can play on all three, but I could realistically go with one that just plays on 360.
4. I run my tv/Xbox on hdmi. I assume that the adapters that these things come with will plug into the back of my tv? ...does that mean that I will have to unplug the optical cable every time I want to watch regular tv? Or does an adapter plug into the xbox that still lets you run HDMI to the TV and still sends sound optical out directly from the xbox?
5. I've got about $200 bucks in credit at gamestop, so I'm probably gonna spend my money there. They do have multiple brands, but not as big of a selection as Amazon.
6. If I do get some headphones and want to use them on pc, do I have to use all the wireless stuff, or can I just plug them straight into my pc and leave the wireless broadcaster hooked up to the xbox? I guess this would depend on what brand...
I'm going to read back through this thread a bit, but I wanted to see if anybody had any suggestions. I've been reading some reviews for the Turtle Beach X42's, but people don't seem thrilled with them for whatever reason.
Amazon.com: Turtle Beach Ear Force X42 Dolby Surround Sound Gaming Headset: Video Games Of course, those are a fairly "new" product with only 12 reviews.
The old Trittons have better reviews, but people talk about the mic breaking a lot.
Amazon.com: Tritton Xbox 360 AX Pro Dolby Digital Precision Version 1.0 Gaming Headset: Video Games
I don't have surround sound in my current house, and we'll probably move in a year or two. Of course, we're planning on having a baby by then, so I thought getting a good set of wireless surround sound headphones would be my best way out.
