Florio to interview Mike Tripplett

MF: NFL has been very reluctant to share information, can understand why they might want to protect players, but what about GW? Any word about what he said as it would relate to funding or paying out a bounty system?

Tripp: No, but I have talked to a sourrce who said they GW said that what he said was misinterpreted much like Anthony Hargrove, and we know that what he said was misrepresented by the NFL, the biggest disconnect was that Vitt said he never heard the word bounty until he got into meetings in New York -- and that everyone on the Saints believes they did NOT have a bounty system, but a pay for performance system. What they paid into is a betting pool for whoever makes the play gets the money. Legal hits like Whitner's hit, maybe the language was bad (cart-offs and knockouts) but the intent was not.

Also said Whitner's legal hit was no different than what the Saint's appear to have attempted, it was clean, legal, Pierre was "carted off" and it was one of the most celebrated plays of the game.
