Fox Sports' John Czarnecki: Brees overestimating his worth

I'm going to have to disagree with you a little. I think that you are downplaying the talent on the offense. Graham is the 2nd best receiving TE in the game...and may turn into the greatest ever. Colston may not have made a pro bowl...but the guy is a stud and in many people's opinion (including my own) the greatest WR to ever put on a Saints uni. Moore and Henderson are both solid receivers...and Meachem was one of the best deep threats in the game. That does not even include Sproles and PT out of the backfield. If Daniels was QB I think that he would put up more than 3500 yards. Granted...he isn't anywhere close to the level that Brees is...but part of the reason why Brees is great is the talent around him and a brilliant offensive playcaller. Don't get me wrong...Brees is easily a top 5 QB...but the offense has plenty of talent around him.

Actually, we agree. Colston SHOULD have made the probowl many times. Brees has had Reggie Bush, Darren Sproles, and Pierre Thomas as first-rate backfield receivers. Henderson has greatly improved and now catches the ball anywhere on the field. The Saints' receivers are underrated, but Brees makes them the best they can be IMHO. He has had Shockey and now Graham as tight ends. I just see the whole situation with Brees and the receivers as symbiotic. They make each other better.

Getting back to the article, I wonder how many QBs drill after practice with their receivers. The talk about Roethlisberger and Eli Manning is laughable. Brees has the yardage record and nearly broke it before. He could well break Unitas's consecutive game with a TD pass record this year. What more do you want? His accuracy is unbelievable, as the Sportscience video shows. He has superior leadership skills over Roethlisberger and Eli, and I don't think that's worthy of any serious debate, though it's admittedly subjective to a certain extent. I haven't seen the stats, but it seems to me that he cut down his fumbling significantly last season.

How anyone can say that Rodgers and Peyton are clearly superior to Drew Brees is beyond me. All three are great QBs, but Brees has the records. What does that tell anyone with a brain?
