So who's part of the 29%?

The original intent of SSN has been corrupted by politicians (of both stripes). I tend to agree with another poster who suggested term limits as a viable response to the corruption. Although in the long run that’s probably an impotent reaction to an inevitable consequence of being a human (and therefore susceptible to corruption)
So do you become a politician because you already have a predisposition to corruption/lying/cheating/hypocrisy/self-aggrandizement, or do these character flaws just manifest only upon one's becoming a politician?

I'd like to sack the whole political system and go back to what it seems the founding fathers intended, which if memory serves, is a system based on civic duty (like jury duty), not professional politicians whose sole aim is to get re-elected every 2, 4 or 6 years, and to that end will do and say whatever they have to.
