The is my 2nd film study. As I said I am trying to 3 a day. At least guys that I think the Saints could pick. This time I am doing Jordan, Werner, and Lemonier. These guys were fun to watch for different reasons. So lets go!
Dion Jordon OLB, Oregon
Games Watched: vs Stanford, vs USC, vs Washington, vs Washington st., vs Fresno
The Good: All I could do was smile watching this guy. Talk about an elite athlete. The guy is LONG. 6-7, 240 something pounds. The first thing I wanted to focus on is his pass rush ability. And it is pretty damn good. He has a great first step, and dip his shoulder and come around the edge with great speed. He is a hard worker and has high motor. You rarely see him tired even though he is on the field every snap. The thing that stands out to me is his athleticism. He is soooo fluid for a big guy. They put his hands in the dirt, they stand him up, they have him covering TE's, slot WR's, RB;s in the slot. I swear you can put this guy at safety and he would probably do well. Even when plays are away from him he is hustling to get in on it. Even plays special teams and does it well. This is guy is a defensive coordinators dream. Soooo many options, very versatile and seems pretty intelligent as far as play diagnosing and understanding route concepts, snap count, etc.
The bad: Although he has a very good first step and good pass rush ability. Not very versatile in his hand usage. He is usually dipping his shoulder or just flat out flyng past the o-linemen. I also wouldn't classify him as a "physical" player. He can get easily over powered by offensive linemen, and easily gets nudged out of the path of the QB. Gets over powered in the running game, although he tries to make up for it with hustle. Not real good at shedding blocks.
NFL Projection: I see him as 3-4 OLB or even a 4-3 OLB. He is a versatile player that can do it all. He is young and has tons of upside. He has the frame to add on much more bulk and be more physical in the run game. He will need to get coached up on different pass rushing moves. He will be interesting in the league. He can be an immediate impact player, or if he gets with a stubborn coach, they could struggle trying to find a role for him or pigeon holing him in 1 role.

Bjorn Werner DE, Florida St.
Games Watched: vs Maryland, vs Wake Forest, vs NC State, vs Oklahoma
The Good: This guy is a pass rusher. PERIOD. He has the first step. He has the speed off of the edge. He is relentless with the QB in his sights. He is very nifty at trying to find the best way to get home, be it outside the tackle, inside, or faking the linemen out with an inside step then quickly shaking him and flying to the QB. Fun guy to watch. He is stout at the point of attack, uses his hands well, has great length and can keep hands off of him. He can bull rush you, he can finesse you. This guy will be a good player.
The bad: Even though he is a white pass rusher, I cant label him with the "high motor guy" stigma. He seems to disappear at times. Especially in the run game which was disappointing. If the play is away from him, you can pretty much guarantee he wont get in on the action. He'll just stop running. There were times when he quit pursuit of a runner, and while his guys try to gang tackle the guy or the guy is moving and shaking for extra yards he is no where to be found. I rarely saw him getting into a pile up. Seems like a guy who "doesn't want to get too dirty". He seems like a guy who will do what he is told and that's it, nothing extra. And although his first step is very good, Im no sure he is very fast. His closing speed is good but not great.
NFL Projection: Everyone is saying he is only a 4-3 DE, which he does project there, I feel he can play both DE and OLB in a 34. He is only 255 pounds. they've stood him up and put his hands in the dirt, although he seems a little more natural with his hands in the dirt. Reminds me somewhat of Ryan Kerrigan with not as good a motor but more athleticism. Definitely has the ability to be a game changer in the NFL.

Corey Lemonior DE, Auburn
Games Watched: vs LSU, vs Alabama, vs Georgia
The Good. This guy was fun to watch. He is not an elite athlete, but a hard worker and seems to be a natural football player. He comes off the edge with very good power and explosion. To say he not the biggest guy he gets pretty physical at the point of attack. Very good at diagnosing plays and very good instincts in the run game and passing game. Not afraid to get his hands dirty at all. Good speed, good strength, instincts, all of the above. He can stand up and rush from a 3 point stance.
The bad: As I said, he not a GREAT athelete. Not crazy fast, not crazy strong, not really a fluid athlete if that's the correct term. He just works hard and uses all his tools at his disposal. He is not a guy who will wow you with his athleticism but he wil show up time after time making plays.
NFL Projection: I can see him as a OLB or DE. He can fill out and bulk up, he has the frame for it. He reminds me somewhat of Ahmad Brooks. He is wont be getting crazy sack number but will always show up on tape doing something good. Probably wont be a All-Pro guy but I can see him making a few pro-bowls and having a damn good NFL career.

Overall, I wouldn't mind any of these guys. I was somewhat disappointed in Werner since I see him so highly rated by other draftnicks and mock drafts. Dion Jordan sure is intriguing as an all-around player. And Lemonior could be a steal in the 2nd round. Look forward to your feedback!
