Mock Draft V2.0 - Rob Ryan style

No trades, just straight up drafting with what we got.

1st - Dion Jordan - OLB - Oregon- I could see Dion being a very dangerous SOLB. Length, quickness, fluidity. You want him to rush the passer? No right tackle in the NFL can block this guy off the edge, especially with big Cam Jordan protecting him. Need him to drop into coverage? The guy could come in and instantly be one of the best if not the best coverage linebackers in the league. Drafting him also frees up Martez Wilson to play WILB. With two freak athletes on the field both capable of dropping into coverage, our defense becomes very confusing. Imagine Junior at ROLB rushing the passer every down and then not knowing if Tez or Jordan is blitzing. Hell, let's just send all 3.

3rd - Phillip Thomas - SS - Fresno State - This dude can flat out ball. He's your prototypical thumper with ball hawk skills. He's the kind of guy that always seems to be around the ball. He's the kind of guy that a quarterback always needs to be aware of in the passing game and the running game. He would be an instant upgrade to Harper as he can do everything Harper can do and more. Plus he's a lot cheaper. Note - Fresno State had 2nd best pass defense in NCAA last year.

4th - Pick change. Previously Xavier Nixon, T, Florida. I'm assuming here we re-sign Bushrod Kwame Geathers - NT - Georgia - You can't teach 6'6" 350 lbs. If we end up running a 2 gap scheme, the behemoths Hicks, Geathers, and Jordan could free up an extremely talented young linebacking group to make some big plays. Our front 7 would be young and dangerous.

5th - Kenny Okoro - CB - Wake Forest - A big (6'1), fast (4.48), and smart corner. Can't be worse than J Patrick. Has all the tools to be a lockdown man corner.

6th - Chad Bumphis - WR - Mississippi State - Not a Calvin Johnson, Larry Fitzgerald type guy, but he puts up insane numbers. A younger Lance Moore with more upside. He's quick in and out of cuts and can stretch the field. He could be another dynamic big play threat for this offense.

7th - Michael Williams - TE - Alabama - Purely a run blocking tight end with red zone play-action sneakiness. Similar to David Thomas but a much better run blocker and probably just as good of a goal line receiver. No way he gets picked up before the 7th round.

Love the Williams pick. Watching him play a few times, I thought he was pretty decent. He showed nice hands and quikness. What I didnt know is he's such a good blocker and that he's 270 lbs. Big Dude!

I just dont know if he'll be there in the 7th rd. If he is invited to the combine, and works hard enough, he'll drop 10 lbs and improve his 40 time by a tenth. If he runs a low 4.7 or better, he will help himself alot, and may get the call in the 6th rd.
