Seems like Hawthorne and Lofton both inside would be a pretty good tandem. Maybe in more obvious passing downs Hawthorne swap with Lofton and Vilma take Hawthorne's spot at WILB.
I think Hawthorne can play any of the positions to be honest. But keep in mind that until last season/his injury, Vilma was on the field more than any other Saints' defender on the roster. I know there's talk of him slowing, but unless that is absolutely true, I think he goes back to being the captain of this defense, playing 90% of snaps.
From snap to whistle, Hawthorne is better thumper than Vilma. The difference is what happens before that snap where Vilma puts not only himself, but his teammates in position to anticipate and stop the play before it happens.
