Yeah, it's easy to blame the authorities, but the reality is if America weren't the most stupidly litigious nation on Earth we wouldn't be where we are right now. There are lots of factors at play, but our embarrassing culture of "SUE! SUE! SUE!" has played a major role in this kind of stuff.
