To Tip or not to tip

That's the way i feel i suppose. I mean sometimes, i go in hmm and hawing and dont know what to get. And basically say, i want something cold and caramel...i tip for that.

Fixing me a coffee granita that they just pulled the handle on to fill the cup...i have a hard time doing it.

I think all in all, while i consider myself to be one that likes to tip, i just dont want it to be EXPECTED.

And dont get me started on Sonic hoppers.

Yeah sonic is the same. If you're being a pain, calling them back for more napkins, etc, and otherwise basically making their job more difficult than would be normally expected, particularly if you're possibly affecting their service of other customers, then it's appropriate.

But I worked as a barista once, you get paid a normal hourly wage. I mean its low, it's like fast food wage, but still. We're often talking high school/college kids who consider the spare change in the tip jar to be bonus money, not their wage. Tip some if you're annoying but it's not that big a deal.

PS at least where I worked we all split the tips at a shift change anyways, so it doesn't go to any one individual anyways. If you scored enough tip money to buy one of your own drinks at the end of the night it was an ok night tip-wise.
