New Orleans Saints Rumors: Chase Daniel Drawing Interest from Other Teams

The New Orleans Saints have had a busy off-season thus far as they have restructured many contracts and let some players go. There are sure to be more players on the move and one player who could potentially leave the Saints is backup quarterback Chase Daniel.

Daniel has been the number one backup for Drew Brees for the past three seasons and this off-season, he is set to be a free agent. Daniel has said in the past that he would like to compete for a starting job somewhere. He also said this about his place on the roster: “What competition?…I am trying to take Drew Brees’ spot. I don’t see a competition with any other quarterback but Drew on the roster right now.”

Daniel is a fierce competitor and he has made it clear that he wants to be the starting quarterback for the Saints. In reality, there is no way he will get a shot to start in New Orleans and certainly not after the Saints gave Brees a $100 million contract last off-season. However, if Brees goes down with an injury for an extended period of time, he would be inserted as the starter.
