SXSW Bully sucker punch. Justified or cheap?
In full disclosure, I didn't read the entire thread
But...
I don't consider it a sucker punch.
If you are visibly trying to fight and slapping random people in a crowd, it is not a sucker punch if one of the random people gives you what you asked for.
The "bully" chose the arena and therefore should have been aware of his surroundings. A punch from the group should be expected in this circumstance. Its his fault for creating a situation in which he didn't have the skills to exist.
A "sucker punch" to me, is a punch you had no reason to expect receiving.
If you are open hand slapping (and laughing at) people who clearly don't want to fight, you better watch your back (or side.) I think that is probably a good universal rule to live by.
It was funny that the knock out punch thrower says "boom" when he hits him.
There is also a difference in whom you are attacking. For instance, if he were doing this to girls, no one would call it a sucker punch.
The open hand slap to the poor guy by the tree :hihi: sort of takes it in a different direction. The guy clearly doesn't have the skills to defend himself and the slap/laugh delivered sets the crowd into a different collective mind state.
Most people's mind set will then go from strictly observer to possible victim. This usually gives them the justification to be involved as an extension of self defense.
One could argue that the crowds simple presence removes any justification; They could have simply left. But, it can also be argued that if the police are not present, the observers presence there, can be a moral duty. They can justify staying as group protection for the possible victims of the aggressor.
So yeah, the guy created a situation he couldn't handle and got handled:lol:
That its my 2 cents.
