If he's confident in his abilities, then it's a pretty good contract for him, especially since teams aren't spending as much right now with the cap not increasing. If he does great this year, then he can opt out and get a bigger deal, or he can wait until 2015 l when the cap is supposed to do a big jump, which means that teams will be more likely to spend.
