Butler agrees to terms with Saints (merged)

My question is about the second year being voidable depending on playing time and production. That sounds like it is voidable by the Saints not Butler. Can anyone answer this for sure?

Probably means he couldn't get better money anywhere else........nor probably a starting position anywhere else. With no sure shot starter@ OLB (even though we are already pegging Tez/Galette) we probably gave him the best chance to be more than a role player.

Cleveland is pretty much set @ OLB. Sheard/Kruger....Philly is pretty stocked@ OLB.

So i mean we've got the most ?'s along our LB core and he gets a chance to reunite with his old coach...however he PROBABLY wanted more money and decided to check around.

Then came back to us

Also what it means is that we will probably still address OLB in the draft...but it doesn't have to be the 1st pick.

That gives us some flexibility. Galette has 3 years left, Butler has 2, Wilson has 1 year left...and lets say we draft a SOLB..JAmie Colllins. If Galette doesn't make as smooth a transition then he has Butler down his throat, and if Wilson doesn't transition he has Collins down his throat. So it keeps us from being in a bind later.

YEt i still like the fact of it opening up the chance for us to not HAVE to draft an OLB 1st...especially since its so much projecting.
