There was a Dr Oz episode recently that showed how the food industry has us "hooked".
For example, a bag of chips or things like that, have lots of salt.
He had a large container of water (or some other solution) with red dye in it so you could see any action.
He then put in a pinch of normal salt and it bubbled up and you could understand the party your toungue gets when you eat it.
He then put in a pinch of this "Super Salt" that the food companies use and it reacted like a volcano. It was like Mardi Gras in your mouth.
They moved on to the sugary segment and the guest Dr or whatever he was explained how these massive junk food companies have developed over time, formulas that most people find absolutley irresistable. Tons of money, research, trials and test have been and will continue to be thrown at this massive industry.
I do feel like a lab rat, lol.
I know that I don't exercise as much as I used to which contributes to my weight gain, but I will concede that potato chips and sweet pastries are my weakness. Chips I eat daily, the other stuff less frequent.
I believe we literally are "junk food junkies"
BTW, I'm about 25 lbs overweight.
