Battlestar Galactica Discussions (MERGED)

A few months ago I watched the entirety of Star Trek: Deep Space 9 on Netflix and I was pretty struck by how many of the ideas found on BSG (especially related to spiritualism, identity, predestination, the cyclical nature of the universe and other such themes) Ronald D. Moore worked into that show as a writer. In fact, a LOT of the episodes he wrote or had input on almost seem like a dry run for what he would do on Battlestar Galactica. Obviously BSG is much more dark and less pulpy than a Star Trek series, but the ideas are absolutely there and pretty recognizable if you've watched both series.

If you watch the original BSG, campy and cheesy as it is, you'll see many of the same themes which were carried over from STOS. Many of these themes recur any sci-fi books throughout history. Sci-fi allows us to explore those ideas that we are perplexed with today.
