Commander's Palace to open in Destin next summer

I am not sure if any other posters have eaten at Commander's since it re-opened since post-K. I ate there Mardi Gras weekend for brunch and my mom's 82 birthday. We had a party of 15. They had a beautiful boquet of flowers for her. Service was impeccable. The bloody mary's and screwdrivers were continually topped off without charge. The dress code was not coat and tie required but more of "dress casual" not casual dress. No jeans, pullovers, sandals. I was told the coat and tie code is gone. The sheepshead was excellently prepared as was most everybody's meal. The banana's foster was great and the jazz trio band very enjoyable.

Actually I was there on Father's Day, which also happened to by my dad's birthday. And it was ALSO MY birthday the day before. So it was a big deal for us.....two birthdays and a father's day. The food was excellent, but the service was awful. Our meal took three hours. Our desserts, which were pre-arranged by my mother, were all wrong. And they forgot the vodka in our bloody mary's. They serve their bloody mary's with the mix first, then come back and add the vodka apparently. But they forgot. So after 10 minutes and after telling two waiters that my drink needed alcohol, I had to get up and find someone who would complete my hangover mix. Way overrated IMO.

The jazz combo was nice, though.
