I think it is the same - 15 to 20 percent depending on satisfaction and relationship. Also, add a buck or two for the hair wash person if it's a separate person and if they do that thing where they massage your head and you want to go to sleep.

I tip 20 percent and add two bucks to the hair wash lady.

this is a spot I almost go in the opposite direction. I have paid up to 30 for a cut but I also like a clean look so I sometimes go once every 3 weeks or so and there is nothing to do but trim. I have had an older barber cut it for 12 and it looked just as good. They set their own price so I don't feel I have to go as closely to a percentage basis. In fact I would tip the $12 dollar cut 6 or 7 so that it brings them more inline with what others a charging since the work is comparable.
