3 lucky as hell kids...

My god.... Are people in that much of a rush that they are willing to not only kill three children, but possibly themselves in the process?

This happens around here at LSU, quite often. A bus stops to let students off and a car comes flying around the bus and nearly hits people. A few weeks ago, it almost happened to me. I looked both ways after getting off the bus and this guy came flying around the bus and came to close to hitting me that I had I taken another step, he would have ran me over. Riding behind a bus may be frustrating, but I would never risk the lives of some passengers to arrive at my destination 2 minutes sooner.

I think it's more likely that these people are just not paying attention. It's not as if this driver made a conscious decision to risk these kids' lives because he/she wanted to shorten the day's drive time.

Such a close call can be a result of something so simple as just a short lapse in judgment. A split second decision can make a driver look really stupid and it can put pedestrians in danger too. Driving is basically the most dangerous thing all of us do on a day to day basis -- a very brief lapse in attention can yield tragic results. Any traffic accident could be chalked up to bad timing.

Oh well, traffic will be completely automated soon enough and we won't have to worry about this anymore. Your car will drive you and it won't make such stupid moves.
