The Inside Story on Bountygate

It will never go away because only a small percentage of people know the truth and the facts behind the whole mess. And unfortunately those people are the people in the courtrooms and the people who cared to research it all and read ALL of the info. Those select few just happen to be Saints fans which just makes us look bias in our defense of the whole situation. Just yesterday an article was talking about how if Payton was held responsible for running a system that paid to injure players then certainly the Patriots should be punished to some extent. Like I said, the perception will NEVER go away...thanks Goodell.

There is a scale. The Saints had culpability in bountygate. It was nothing near what the they were accused of doing, but they did break rules.

So when fans say the Saints did nothing it isn't much different than people sliding the scale the other way.

IMO the biggest reason Goodell came down so hard was he wanted an admission that the Saints had a bounty on Favre, and only GW caved. Whether or not the there was a bounty in that game has always been 95% of the case against the Saints. Everything else was fluff. But I believe to this date the NFL and probably many others believe there was a bounty against Farve.
