Cutting the cable, lets talk options and media setups

Hoping one day ESPN becomes a separate subscription. At least I can get ESPN 3 and trending topics is which is like a S.C. without B.S. on Apple TV.

live sports is the one reason people list on polls why they do not cut the cord. For that reason you can only imagine how deep ESPN is in the cable company pockets.

And there is plenty of proof.

Verizon has apparently hit a snag with regard to its efforts aimed at cord cutters. The cable TV provider recently introduced a way to purchase TV channel packages via à la carte bundles. But today, ESPN filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against Verizon, arguing that Verizon’s move to break out ESPN’s channels into a separate sports tier that isn’t a part of the core package is not authorized by existing contracts.

but better options have been listed in this thread.

here is one.

ESPN has been the glue that kept many customers stuck to traditional cable and satellite plans, despite enticing new options for “cutting the cord” and getting video from a mix of other sources.

Now ESPN will be available through a $20-per-month streaming-video package that DISH subsidiary Sling will begin offering this quarter. (Image above courtesy of ESPN.)

Called Sling TV, it’s a month-to-month service with no contract requirements and no hardware to install. The service is available via streaming media devices such as Roku and Amazon Fire TV boxes and sticks. It will also work with some “smart” TVs from LG and Samsung; PCs; Macs and devices running iOS and Android. Additional supported devices will be announced later this year.
