N/S: Eagles' secondary may be in deep you-know-what
I'd think that trading Boykin had more to do with a feeling that 2nd round pick Eric Rowe was ready to step up and take his place more than anything to do with the 6th round pick --JaCorey Shepherd. They still have another 6th round corner btw -- Randall Evans.
Boykin was entering the last year of his contract and they got something for him, with a 2nd rounder waiting to fill in. Having 2 6th round corners also provided some extra depth.
So, yes, they'll lose some depth. But it's not unheard of for a 6th rounder to not even make the team -- and they had 2 6th round corners. Don't think it's that big of a deal, IMHO. The Boykin trade isn't even all about this year, it's going to be what happens in the next few seasons. And again, if that 2nd rounder pans out and just one of the two 6th rounders also stick to provide depth, it may not be a horrible trade for a guy who was on the last year of his contract.
