Cutting the cable, lets talk options and media setups

I partially severed the cord 6 years ago and went with a Roku 2nd generation I think it was. At the time I was willing to pay $12/month to TWC for the broadcast channels over cable. Later I discovered that with the internet package I get those anyway so officially I only pay for internet. I flirted with Amazon and Hulu but only briefly. Thru my Roku (hooked up to my smart tv btw due to crappy apps on the smart tv) Netflix, MLB, PBS, Smithsonian and History channel serve up most of our content).

My biggest concern is the continued birthing of super high definition content that eats up bandwidth. I had my brief fling chasing HD as an early adopter but have no interest at all in ultra or 4K and certainly whatever is coming next. I think it is a threat to cord cutting in cost cutting terms. We will all pay for it with increased internet access I think which starts to eat into the cost savings of cord cutting.
