I'm gonna get "geeked" for this, but:

well sure, in an m by n matrix (call it "A"), where m = 1 and n =1 and the constant at A[1,1] is 1.

You have a row of 1. You also have a column of 1.

There's a part of me that really wishes I didn't understand that.

But alas, the engineer in me agrees.
