Week 2: Saints @ Giants - Player Grades, Snap Counts and Analysis

Ah no need to apologise at all - with anything like this there's always going to be a range of different opinions so always happy to debate.

With that particular FG play though - I just felt that it seemed the overall liability for Hankins getting to the ball was more on Peat. Admittedly I'm no FG blocking assignment expert and the below could be entirely incorrect, but the way I saw it was the onus was on Armstead to keep Pierre-Paul outside him, and on Peat to keep Harrison outside him - and then both players would be in position to block the path of Hankins on the inside. As it was, Armstead seemed to keep Pierre-Paul on the outside but Peat appeared to allow Harrison to move inside initially which then meant Hankins was able to run right over Peat.

As I say - the above could well be wrong - and I can certainly understand how yourself and others see it another way and put it more on Armstead - especially if you feel each player should only be covering their inside gaps.

As for the bias - we certainly try and avoid any of that and make sure the grades are only based on the game film from that particular week. With Peat - we haven't graded him out negatively in either game of 2016 so far - so I don't think we're being unduly harsh on him. I think in general he's actually done pretty well at left guard so far...

Every analyst I've heard talking about that blocked FG has stated that Armstead was the main reason for the block, not Peat. You're entitled to your opinion, but that portion of your analysis is completely incorrect. Otherwise, this is a very good read.
