Football is not what many fans think it is.
It isn't a war in which every other team is the enemy and to be hated at all costs.
Football culture is something completely different. There is a LOT of emphasis on character and integrity. Religion/spirituality is a big part of football.
These guys are all close friends and genuinely want to see each other succeed.
And they don't want an easy road to victory. They want to know they beat the best to reach the top.
So John Fox recommends Sean Payton because they are friends and because he feels Payton would be a great coach.
A worthy adversary.
What is a shame is football culture is hidden from the world mainly because the fans don't want to know about it.
Sports media puts low intellect spokesmen out front and speaks to the least common denominator.
I think they are afraid to expose the touchy-feely side of a very violent sport.
