Here we go again, calling any kind of extreme cold a 'polar vortex'

Thunder snows are incredible..I was in one last year, lots of lightning but never heard one strike because of the "muffling" of the sound due to heavy snow. Not dangerous though.

More than likely I'll be heading to the Buffalo area Wednesday for a few days to cover lake effect snow and hopefully get some thundersnow.
