Saints' prayers continue to be answered

(Sports Network) - For any team to be consistently successful over the course of a full NFL season, good fortune is as necessary as good talent. And over the past two years, there's been no better illustration of this premise than the New Orleans Saints.
The Saints received nothing but bad luck a year ago, when the franchise temporarily lost its home, a number of key performers to injury, and a whole lot of games as a result. But sooner or later the law of averages catches up, and New Orleans has reaped the benefits in 2006 for all it had to endure the previous year.
A perfect example of the Saints' continued good karma came on the final play of the first half of Sunday's game with the rival Atlanta Falcons. Not content with taking a 14-6 lead into the intermission, quarterback Drew Brees lofted a "Hail Mary" pass down the right sideline with New Orleans possessing the ball near midfield. His throw landed right in the awaiting arms of wideout Terrance Copper to send the Saints into the locker room with a commanding 15-point cushion.
