Matt Ryan, so long for that elite talk

Kyle Shanahan with the boom drop right at the end of his time in Atlanta

that was some HORRIBLE play-calling at the end of the game

from the point the Falcons get up 25 points... they run the ball only 4 more times the rest of the game... that was the big mistake.

Yup, I think Matty Ice and that entire franchise fell victim to their own hubris. When up by 25; it looked like ATL was trying to bury the Pats in points by continuing to pass, instead of running the ball down their throats and eating up the clock. The Pats had problems stopping Freeman, too, which makes it even more shocking. Watching that game reminded me of Game Of Thrones. The episode where The Red Viper carved up The Mountain within an inch of his life. But instead of finishing him off, he decided to get cute, and ultimately lost his head for it. To lose the way ATL did, was the most divine of comedies.

In regards to Matty Ice being "elite"...Nah! He's good, but he's not a top 5er at the position. He's barely in the top 10, in my opinion. Matt Ryan is a numbers guy, who clocks stats. He's in the same category with the likes of Carson Palmer, Scum Newton, Andy Dalton, and the Matt Stafford's of the league. All good enough to win, no doubt, but not great enough to win it all.
