Cutting the cable, lets talk options and media setups

I'm in Youngsville also. We dropped Cox cable but kept their internet. Now, we have a Roku 3 with PS Vue, Netflix, and CBS All Access. This pretty musch replaces all of the features we needed through Cox. As for football, I bought a Mohu Leaf 50 and watch the games on that.
One thing that I would have done different now that I've changed everything is to buy an Amazon Fire TV box instead of the Roku. The Roku is not bad by any means but I could have gotten most of the same functionality out of the Fire TV and have the ability to sideload Kodi for anything else that I could need.
Good luck!!!

do i need amazon prime for the fire tv box to access the shows? i can get netflix and hulu through the xbox1 now. is this what you have as far as the games?
Mohu Leaf 50 Amplified Indoor HDTV Antenna Multi MH-110584 - Best Buy

did u put it in the attic and connect it to the splitters for the different rooms?

hd antenna will pick up football games and those local stations for news etc.

I have Netflix, and Amazon prime, and a fire t.v. box loaded with Kodi for everything else.

I cut the cord in 2013 and have not looked back. Welcome to the club.

You will need Internet, but most packages are under 50 bucks a month (I pay 34.99 in my area for 50 MPBS).

Internet 34.99, Netflix 11.99, Amazon 8.25 (99 per year). In the past I have opted for HBOnow for 14.99 per month usually every April - July for Silicon Valley, and Game of Thrones. But I am probably just going to roll the dice with Kodi for that too this year because I believe the seasons are staggered with GoT starting late.

Knocked a 180 dollar cable bill down to 55.23 per month. Fire T.V. is a one time buy of 89.99 (sale it can drop as low as 69.99). Also HD antenna will set you back around 20 for a decent one, up to around $100 if you need a good one. But that will vary for people, depending on your range to the broadcast towers.

But you can really mix and match, Hulu, Netflix, Prime. All are about 10 bucks a month, get the ones that fit your needs best. I.E. if your worried about missing out of more recent shows Hulu is probably better than netflix. Netflix is doing decent originals and is nice for binge watching seasons. But really once you get Kodi, you can probably do without everything else. I only keep netflix for my mom who has one of my 4 linked accounts because I don't think she would grasp Kodi, and she has gotten used to netflix. Prime i've had for a decade and got it for the 2 day free shipping. So any digital content they continue to add is just a bonus for me.

where do you buy the kodi box? and once i do that do i need the different accounts (hulu/netflix/prime). is kodi a one time buy or monthly fee?

just trying to learn about all the options.
