What is your most favorite non playoff moment in SAINT history.
As a young-ish fan (now 30 years old), trying to think of something a little unconventional, I'll go with a game in 2001 in Carolina. We had gotten absolutely screwed earlier as the patsy who dared play against the Giants in their first home game after 9/11. The Saints, as they so often did under Jim Haslett, played down to their competition in the lowly Panthers (who would end the season at 1-15). With the Saints leading by 8 with 4 minutes to go, they managed to get their awful linebackers torched by former Saint Wesley Walls for a 23-yard touchdown pass and a 70-yard punt return for touchdown by Steve Smith and had to mound a furious comeback just to have a chance. The last play of the game saw the Saints on the Panthers' one-yard line with one second left to go. Mike McCarthy called a pitch to Ricky Williams around the left side. He turned the corner and ran inside the pylon for the touchdown after time had expired to earn the win. Back in those days, I was stuck with whatever game was on TV (almost never the Saints) but the NFL hadn't started charging to listen online to the radio call. I still remember Jim Henderson's radio call like it was yesterday: "They'll pitch it to Ricky. Sweeping left. Trying to turn the corner. To the pylon. HE'S IN!"
