Malcolm Butler should still be on Saints' radar (IMO)

In my opinion, this team is much closer that most think. Like almost any potential contender though, you can't just rely on luck; every once in a while, you need to make a move that you feel can put your team over the top.

I say go for it. Our window is closing.

Not that I don't agree with you. I think we have a lot of talent on our team and with the new coaching staff I truly hope that the potential of these guys will flourish.

What I don't understand is how some people look at the record and say "we're almost there". Listen.. We've had FOUR 7-9 season over the last five years. That's to wins away from winning seasons. I get it. But the record hide the fact that we've been eliminated weeks earlier. In my book winning a couple of pointless games after you've been eliminated doesn't make you close to the play-offs. I know that this isn't what the OP is saying, I just had to get it out of my system. I hate that coaches, media etc. is using the 7-9 record to let those seasons go down as "almost there seasons". Last year (and 2014+2012) we were 5-8 with three games left. The year before we were 5-9 with two games left. To me this says that we were pretty far away from the play-offs.

What I'm trying to say is that we need to get better in every aspect of the game. We can not let the record tells us that we're close, when in reality we were eliminated three games before season ended. Had we been 7-8 and lost the last game, we had been close. But this wasn't the case.

SO.. Here's to hoping we get a good start in spite of a pretty harsh start of the season. Let's start out with 4-0 before going in to the bye week ;)
