Cutting the cable, lets talk options and media setups

The downside to paying all that money for cable/satellite is simply we just don't watch it enough to justify the expense. There have been maybe 5 TV shows on network television worth watching in the last decade. Everything else will be out in a year or less, streaming on some other provider. We currently have HBO and Starz for free with our internet ($80, including taxes) and if we didn't, I'd probably pony up for it after the shows we watch have completed their season.

Cord-cutting for us is about watching exactly what we want, when we want, where we want. I don't have to worry about catching it live or being tied to DVR. If we know we're not going to be watching much for a few months, we shut it off.
