N/S Pats fans going off on Cooks and Brady

Smith a 3rd round pick wasn't really used as a WR his first year. He was mostly a return specialist and netted nearly 2,000 yards which was 4th in the ENTIRE league behind Priest Holmes, Marshall Faulk, and Derrick Mason. If anything Cooks wishes he could have that kind of production his first year.

Year 2 - he had Rodney Peete. I'll say again. Rodney Peete as QB and had nearly 900 yards in 15 games. That's pretty dang good considering who is throwing the ball to him.
Year 3 - he got a semi competent QB in Jake Delhomme and had 88 catches for 1,110 YDs and 7 TDs. Went to the playoffs and had 404 receiving yards in the playoffs. At the time is was the 2nd most since Jerry Rice in 1988. Currently he is 4th. Not bad I'd say.
Year 4 - IR
Year 5 - Leads NFL in Receptions, Receiving Yards, and Receiving TDs. 103 receptions, 1,563 yards, and 12 TDs

Then goes on to finish out as a #8 All time in receiving yards. #12 in receptions, tied for #18 in Receiving TDs.

Cooks hasn't made it to year 5 but I guarantee you he will not touch the accolades Smith has in his first 5 years.

He hasn't even got to year 5 and yet you guys bag on him or prop up Smith. For four years Smith wasn't even in the same stratosphere as Cooks. THAT IS NOT UP FOR DEBATE. Year 5 for Smith was great. I'll take Cooks first 5 years over Smith 1000 out of 1000 times. And Smith was the ultimate diva and punched a teammate who was on his knee. Smith is an absolute thug and bully. THUG.

Why do saints fans always have to bag on players they trade? This whole board kept saying Brees could turn any TE into an all star when Jimmy was traded. That thought has been proven to be codswallop but yet people on here still don't want to give Jimmy any credit.

Brees should be given credit for turning linemen into studs. Unger is solid but is no all pro. Brees makes him look fantastic.

As for the thug Smith you should also point out that his big year against us was when we had Jim Haslett and Hurricane Katrina. Cooks could take year 5 off and he is still the winner statistically.

First 5 years for the Thug 261 catches for 3759 yards and 22 TDS
First 4 years for Cooks (and he isn't finished this year) 269 for 3785 and 25 TDS.

Cooks will be better thru 5 years no matter what he does. Cooks has also been with two QBs who don't lock in on one wr only unlike Jake and Peete. This isn't even close Cooks has been and will be better than the THUG.
