I think the argument for getting rid of laws that forbid you to pump your own gas is that its a government mandated burden on the consumer.
Gas stations can still offer full service for customers who want it, but the argument that some people will lose their jobs if there is no government mandate is silly. They should lose their jobs because there is not really a market demand for that service.
How about we make laws that you can't take items off the shelf in stores and put them in the basket. We can create jobs by having people paid to follow you around and do that for you.
