The Steel Curtain should have been named the Steroid Curtain

"The Steel Curtain of the 70s should be called the Steroid Curtain. And not like they did anything wrong. They were the 1st to embrace Steroids when it was totally legal. It was mainly their defensive front 7 and OL. They were legitimately superior athletes, bigger, stronger and faster than the other teams because of the roids."

Every summer, these Steelers would meet in San Marcos TX, back then a tiny town 30 miles from Austin at the time, a small Class 2 University to plan their program for the year. Back then, there was not the body of scientific knowledge on optimal Roids usage. So they would share with each other and set the next year plan. They had 2 trainers and 1 Doctor involved.

The Steelers did this in hiding. Getting caught was not an issue because they were not breaking any rules or laws back then. They wanted to hide their major competitive advantage.

The Cowboys found out and started their very limited at the time Roid program about 5-years later. Eventually Roids became more and more prevalent in the league. And we know the rest. I know one of the trainers.
