Is Ted Ginn Under Valued

sfidc3 - You bring up a really good point that a number of other posters have expressed interesting views about our receivers in SP's offense. We are going to get between 4000 and 4500 yards passing or maybe more. MT will get his 100 catches and Kamara will get a bunch. Besides that, there's no way to tell how SP and Brees will divvy up the remainder of the receptions.

When I look back at Ginn's play last year, many of his catches were clutch. In the Minny playoff game, SP primarily used Ginn as a possession receiver, just like he did with Devery in the 2009 SB. As soon as Minny started to play Ginn tighter to the LOS, SP calls a streak route for Ginn over the middle from the 40 yard line of Minny. Ginn gets wide open and Drew delivers a perfect pass for an easy 40 yard TD strike. Unfortunately, Hill was not set. Kinda a ticky-tack call, but he was not set by a hair. Regardless, with that catch, Ginn would have had around 125 yards and a TD in the biggest game of the year. That is awesome stats for a #2 WR against either the #1 or #2 defense in the league in their back yard

I couldn't be more excited about the Meredith signing. imo, I think that will be looked as a a gold mine. I just wonder how Ginn will fit in with Meredith, Smith and Watson. Regardless, like you said, we will throw for at least 4000-4500 yards.

Agreed. Ginn was huge for us last year, I didn't look up his catch/drop rate but it must have been outstanding cause i don't remember seeing him drop a pass last year. This year though barring injuries I think his role will be a bit diminished in the offense, that is nothing against him as I think he is capable of putting up great numbers still it is just an inevitability. If healthy, Meredith and the rook are going to take some of his catches, I don't see anyway around that. That said I think he could be huge returning punts for us.

I think having Brees as your QB makes every receiver more valuable.

I'm sure he loves playing with Brees, but Ginn balled out for Carolina the year before he came to us, it is more about his maturation/late blooming as a WR than playing with Brees IMO. A credit to Ginn for massive improvement late in his career.....
