Taysom Hill isn't just driving the offseason hype train. He's kicked everyone else off of it, put a warp engine on it, and pointed it toward Canton, Ohio.
And J.T. Barrett has a fair amount of buzz and support, too.
We always love the young guys we haven't seen because we have no proof that they aren't HOF players yet. Hope is a good thing.
So I suspect that most Saints fans hope that Hill and Barrett make the team. Which means that we are actually hoping that Tom Savage does not.
And that makes me a little sad for him. I suspect that 95% of us (myself included) would not recognize Tom Savage if we saw him at the grocery store. I don't even know where he went to college. But I'm still effectively hoping for him to lose his job, solely because I am excited by the other applicants for the position.
Football is a business, and may the best man win. I get it. But before training camp starts and we all formally join team Hill or team Barrett, I tip my hat to Mr. Savage. Here's hoping that he makes Payton's decision incredibly hard.
