Why is it everyone is treating the missed field goal like we would of lost

To people saying we would definitely lose in OT if they won the coin toss. We stopped them a lot of times on defense during the game. I would say we stopped them in at least half their drives in the game including the drive before their last. The defense was not as terrible as people are painting.
