A lot of that is tied to tribalism. Poor white people vote Republican even though it benefits them nothing because that's their team. People tank reviews of great games and bolster reviews of lousy games, which leads to false sales numbers, which leads to bad games down the road because of their team. It's not self-interest, it's the illusion of self-interest through this milky lens of tribe.

Anyway, poor white people vote Republican because they are uneducated and poor black people vote Democrat because they are uneducated. The idea that either of those parties cares about the people who vote for them is laughable.

This idea that tribalism is the problem is an invention of the 21st century. It has no basis in reality. People are sheetty and dumb regardless of whether or not they have joined one tribe or another. We are all self-interested animals. What has made things worse is a lack of emphasis on education, rationality and intelligence and the emphasis on faith and feelings.
