Rams trade for Dante Fowler
The Rams have turned into the NBA and buying a championship.
Not quite....
The Warriors in the NBA have 5 All Stars, in which they need every single one of them just to beat one guy who made them crap their pants in Cleveland for years. They couldn't even beat Lebron with a team that went 73-9 and they most likely lose that first Finals if Kyrie and Love aren't injured.
The days of NFL juggernaut teams is long gone. The last teams who seriously bought championships were in the 90's. The salary cap today primarily exists and has hard rules because of the 1994 49ers and the back to back 1997-1998 Broncos who went nuts throwing money around in free agency to load up for title runs. Those teams were far worse than this, cause their defenses resembled that of Pro Bowl rosters that they loaded up on within 1-2 years.
There will be a price to pay with what the Rams are doing. They are following a similar strategy that Denver did between 2012 to 2015 in the twilight of Manning's career when they loaded up in free agency and kept making moves to try and insure a title run. It worked for them in the short term, but Denver is facing serious issues now.
The Rams will have cap problems in future years. It's a move to try and win now and face the consequences later.
