Thirteen months ago, he signed a huge five-year contract extension. I doubt that a number of owners are in favor of removing him because (a) they are making too much money, (b) they probably can't agree on a replacement, and (c) Goodell is much more the face and representative of the owners than any other NFL commissioner in the last half century.
The owners don't care about a playoff non-call. They do care about the upcoming labor negotiations. Goodell has become toxic with many players. If the players' distrust of Goodell becomes the reason that the owners can't get a new CBA, then Goodell starts looking like a liability to owners. But until then, forget about it.
