Payton and Belichick are looking like geniuses for getting rid of Brandin Cooks

Cooks needs to learn to play more physical in clutch moments. He tends to do the opposite, instead. That is what separats a solid #2 from a legit #1.Don't give me the "size" excuse. Steve Smith Sr was known for exactly this. The guy ws clutch in big moments for a long time. He played much bigger than his physical size.

Agree, that has always been his problem. I think Payton traded up to draft Cooks with Steve Smith in mind. I think he saw the next Steve Smith in Brandin Cooks. But, Cooks soon proved he could never be as physical as Smith to make the tough catches in key moments he would have to make given his size.

I saw too many times a 50-50 ball thrown to Cooks while he was with us that he simply could not make. Give him his his due, he tries hard, has desire to improve and has been a solid receiver in his career, but he's no where near as good as he sees himself to be (at least so far in his career).
