Saints' 1967 Helmet Question

Me neither. That's why I'd like to know if they actually played a season of football in these helmets. I can't find anything.

I'm thinking it's possible that the Sports Illustrated pics were taken before the season started. Helmet striping is one of the last things they do. Adding the black stripe would have been the last step. They may not have finalized the uniform for the first game.

Notice that the helmet had a wide white stripe and a black stripe in the middle. A wide white stripe like the one on the SI cover.
