The Science of Fasting

Fasting for Ash Wednesday, not only for the religious angle but to give me extra motivation to go beyond the 18-hour mark which is where I falter. Nothing but water since dinner last night so I'm about to my "danger zone". I am drinking a LOT of water, so get out of my way.
Have you considered breakfast to breakfast? I do that one a lot. I like it because I’m skipping the two biggest meals of the day and because I’m asleep during the 2nd half of the fast, when I may be most interested in eating. A high fiber, protein rich sandwich of 21 grain bread, a slice of cheddar cheese, and two fried eggs stays with me for a while and make the hunger period nice and short leading into supper time, when I won’t be eating but will still be sitting with the family at the table.
