Every year there’s one rookie who immediately sticks out at Saints training camp. They don’t always make the roster but, if Emmanuel Butler’s past is prologue, you’d better get ready.
The Saints will carry three tight ends on their roster when they cut down to 53. The top two are pretty much carved in stone. It’s going to be Jared Cook, Josh Hill and who?
We had hoped things would be exciting at tight end for the Saints last year. And the year before that and the year before that. Finally, the wait is over and the Saints have a tight end competition and some talent. At the top is Jared Cook, the free agent pick up we started crying for last November-ish. There’s Josh Hill, the blocking tight end. Then there are three others in The Battle for the Third Tight End Spot.
The three facing off in the field of battle are Garrett Griffin, Dan Arnold and Alize Mack. We’ll tell you how we think it should go, how we want it to go and how we think it may go. We’d be lying if we said there was a sure thing here. A lot will depend on training camp and preseason performance. ...
