N/S Jalen Ramsey asks for trade (1 Viewer)

That's one of the things about modern pro sports that folks in our age bracket will never really understand. Seemed like things were better -- for fans, admittedly -- when players had less control over the labor side of things.

Either there were a heckuva lot of miserable pro athletes 30+ years ago ... or the definition of 'misery' had changed since then.

Very good points.

Heck I love free agency and wouldn’t want to go back to the Stone Age pre free agency, but it seems that just in the last few years it’s gotten exponentially worse. Me first era? Lol showing my age there, I know.

It sure seems to be a lot more prevalent now, to me.

Sports reporting has changed. Media has changed. Players have always been demanding trades. It was more common in the 70s and 80s than it is now. Fans just didn’t hear about it as much.

If we had Brees, like with Minkah. I wouldn't hesitate. I'd say make that move immediately.

Now? I'd only make a move for Josh Rosen, to be quite honest. Only like a 5th or 6th though.

All those complaining about how disloyal or what a diva he is haven't been following his situation or actually watching Jags games. He has been unhappy since last year (a year in which he didn't play great). He is arguably the top man-coverage CB in the league but Todd Wash is playing him in zone most of the time.

This isn't to do with winning and losing as much as it is with a guy feeling like he is getting shouted at by his coaches for not playing well but feeling as though they aren't putting him in a position to play well. And given that he's looking to sign the biggest CB contract in history he has EVERY REASON to want to have a big year.

I dare say none of the posters talking about loyalty or "the good old days" have ever been in a position where their annual performance review could be worth upwards of $80M...

The NFL is a business. The teams normally have most of the leverage to cut you, trade you or force you to play at a lesser salary. I don't have a problem when a player is talented enough to dictate where they want to go.

I’m for it, tighten up the defense while TB is at QB and be rollin by the time Brees gets back.

I guess I just don't get it, guys.

Last year, we were ranked 29th in pass defense. That's literally almost the worst in the league. Let that sink in.

For those who oppose getting secondary help, I need to know what you guys have seen in the last two games from the secondary that gave any indication of confidence that this year will be different.

I feel that some of us are so emotionally invested in the players, that we refuse to accept anything negative about them. If the sky is blue, then call it blue. Truth is, Latt hasn't gotten better since last season, and I know that's hard to accept since he was a 1st round pick and DROY. But, if you want to be an all-pro like you stated, then you have to be able to cover the #1 WRs. Regardless, he's still our best CB. PJ Williams is a good tackler, but a huge liability in coverage-he has gotten beat and have given up touchdowns in every single game he has played in. Gotta be a streak. Finally, I have yet to see a big difference between Eli and Crawley tbh.

My point is, the pass rush and run D has improved dramatically. We need a true starting CB opposite of Lattimore if we want to improve this pass defense.

Ramsey's personality rubs me the wrong way but I honestly don't care. I want him here. Ramsey and Lattimore could possibly end up being the best CB duo in the league if we got Ramsey. We would be able to blitz all day while letting those guys play Man coverage.

I'm in win now mode. I want to win this year. It doesn't matter if Drew is out 1 week, 6 weeks, 16 weeks, or the entire season. Win now. Ramsey would help us do just that.
