Based on everything I've seen/read, I do believe they are honest in their reasons for switching (adding a third day, being able to get some bigger guests like Anthony Mackie that they couldn't at the original date, etc.), but even months later and with most of the guests added back and some good news ones added as well, I still feel like it was just such a bizarre move to cancel and reschedule mere weeks out from the original date. Run your first show, build some loyalty, and then worry about bigger guests and more days the next year. We'll see how it all plays out, I guess, but I just feel like they created unnecessary pressure on themselves for a first year convention by doing what they did.
