Interesting info on the surgery that was performed on Drew Brees

Let me play devil's advocate here for a momemt...

Im surprised nobody has mentioned this yet.

Baseball and basketball players compared to a NFL QB. Think about the different hand muscles used in each of these sports. Or better yet actually go out pick up and throw a baseball, dribble and shoot a basketball and then pick up and throw a football.

Each sport requires different muscle actions to perform this adequately.

Basketball IMO requires the least thumb action.

Baseball requires much more but the index and middle fingers are used more in throwing during release.

Football requires the most thumb action because of how the ball is widely gripped on the cone to hold it and then accurately released to throw properly.
(Remember the video footage of Drew unable to pickup a football on the sidelines during Rams game).

Now Drew will have to retrain his surgically repaired thumb to not only grip and throw a football but with his feel and touch and GOAT accuracy. Not to mention taking hard snap from under center and to perform play action with the ball.

Will all this magically occur in that 6-8 week window along with Drew's hallmark quick release and accuracy?

If anybody can and will I think it is Drew Bress. ???

However, it may take even longer since this surgery has never been done with a NFL QB.
