[Merged] Well this should get us all excited

I do therapy for a living. The fact that he’s throwing a nerf or smaller ball might be planned. The weight of a regulation or bigger ball isn’t that big of a deal, in fact the weight shouldn’t be an issue at all. It’s the gripping he’s working on, so a smaller ball should be harder to grip and hold. So that might be part of his therapy. The fact he’s using a smaller ball shows his gripping is farther along then what it would be with a regulation ball.

I don't really understand this. If I hold my hand in a neutral (relaxed) position my thumb is relatively close to my other fingers and palm. The further I move my thumb away from my fingers and palm, the more flexing that's required. I don't think a smaller ball is harder to grip and hold -- it would be nice if that were the case, but that really doesn't make sense. Bigger balls are harder to hold. Anyone who's held balls knows this.
