I get what you're saying,but there is a good reason the NFL uses total yards and not points allowed. Pick sixes and
safeties are the fault of the offense. Kick returns for Td's are the fault of special teams.

We also have to keep in mind we've giving up a lot of yards during garbage time when we were in a prevent. That's
going to affect the total yards stats.

But that one statistic alone is extremely misleading. No one even knows how good the Patriots, or the 49ers really are this season. I can't remember when tow teams have had such easy schedules to start a season. I mean the Patriots have played one possible good team so far. They may go all the way to the superbowl before they have to play a strong team on a neutral field, or on the road.
